Nominations for the 2019 awards is now open for ten categories.

  • Nominees must be resident in the Borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth except for The Special Services to Sport award.
  • Whenever possible nominees should be an active member of a local club.
  • Nominations may be made by any person within the NBBC Council Equal Opportunities Policy, particularly from people with disabilities or learning difficulties
  • Professional sports persons shall not be eligible for entry.

Terms and conditions

1          The Junior Sports Personality will be selected by the panel from the Junior Sports Scholarship nominees 2020.

The Junior Sports Personality will receive The Wilkinson Sword

2          The Junior Team award will apply to those teams with persons under the age of 18 on the closing date

The Junior Team will receive The Nuneaton & Bedworth Sports Forum Junior Team Award.

3          The Junior Coach award nominations are invited from all member clubs for Junior Sports Coaches between the ages of 19 – 25 at the closing date of entries.  Nominees must have amateur status.  Nominees must be coaching in a recognised sport as defined by Sport England

Nominees may be eligible for one grant in any single year, up to a maximum of £100.00.  The level of grant awarded will be at the discretion of the Selection Committee.

Nominees receiving assistance from their governing body or any other organisation may be given a lower priority under the scheme.  Applications should be made by Clubs nominating a Junior Coach.

The Junior Coach will receive the Civic Hall Trophy.

4          The Junior Achiever award applications are invited from all members clubs to nominate Junior Athletes for OUTSTANDINGACHIEVEMENT IN LOCAL SPORT who are 12 years or under at the closing date of entries.  Their Club Headquarters must located be in the Borough.

Applications should be made by Clubs to nominate their Junior Achiever.  Applicants will be eligible for one grant in any single year for £50.00.    Nominees receiving assistance from their governing body or any other organisations may be given a lower priority under the scheme.

The Junior Achiever will receive the Mayor’s Cup.

5          NEW AWARD FOR 2019

The Junior Volunteer of the Year award will apply to a volunteer between the ages of 14 to 19 and who has worked to the special benefit of the club during the year to develop and promote the club and its projects.

The Junior Volunteer of the Year Award will receive The Basil Heatley Memorial Trophy

6          The Senior Sports Personality category will apply to those persons ineligible on the grounds of age for the Junior Sports Personality Award.

The Senior Sports Personality will receive The Chairman’s Cup.

7          The Senior Team award will apply to those teams where members are ineligible on the grounds of age for the Junior Team Award. Entrants should be regular members of both the team and Club, with headquarters in the Borough

The Senior Team will receive The Nuneaton & Bedworth Sports Forum Senior Team Award

8          The Disability award shall apply to any disabled athletes living in the Borough involved in any recognised sport as defined by Sport England

The Disability Sports Personality will receive The Mayor’s Trophy

9          The Club Volunteer of the Year award will apply to a volunteer or a team of volunteers who has/have worked to the special benefit of the club during the year to develop and promote the club and its projects.

The Club Volunteer of the Year Award will receive The Nuneaton & Bedworth Sports Forum Trophy.

10         The Services to Sport award will apply to persons who have contributed to the furtherance of sport within the Borough in a voluntary capacity for a minimum of 15 years.

The Services to Sport Award winner will receive The Nuneaton & Bedworth Sports Forum Cup.

11         For the Special Services to Sport award nominations must come from Clubs with headquarters within the Borough to recogniseassistance from someone living outside the Borough. This person should have a minimum service of five years to the Club concerned.

The Special Services to Sport award will receive a Special award.

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES WILL BE

MONDAY 16 DECEMBER 2019

Proof of residency in the Borough must also be included or the application will NOT be considered
