Nominations for awards relating to achievements for 2020/2021 only and the Junior Sports Scholarship Award Scheme for Young People 2022 are now open!
- Nominees must be resident in the Borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth except for The Special Services to Sport award.
- Whenever possible nominees should be an active member of a local club.
- All nominations are treated within the NBBC Council Equal Opportunities Policy.
- Full professional sports persons shall not be eligible for entry.
Terms and conditions (Only one nomination per trophy allowed from a club/school, per sport)
1 The Junior Sports Personality award will apply to persons under the age of 18 on the closing date for entries.
2 The Junior Team award will apply to those teams with persons under the age of 18 on the closing date
3 The Junior Coach award nominations are invited from all member clubs for Junior Sports Coaches between the ages of 19 – 25 at the closing date of entries. Nominees must have amateur status. Nominees must be coaching in a recognised sport as defined by Sport England.. Nominees may be eligible for one grant in any single year, up to a maximum of £100.00. The level of grant awarded will be at the discretion of the Selection Committee. Nominees receiving assistance from their governing body or any other organisation may be given a lower priority under the scheme.
4 The Junior Achiever award applications are invited from all members clubs to nominate Junior Athletes for a ONE OFF OUTSTANDING DEVELOPMENT IN LOCAL SPORT who are 12 years or under at the closing date of entries. Their Club Headquarters must be located in the Borough. Applications should be made by Clubs to nominate their Junior Achiever. Applicants will be eligible for one grant in any single year for £50.00. Nominees receiving assistance from their governing body or any other organisations may be given a lower priority under the scheme.
5 The Junior Volunteer of the Year award will apply to a volunteer between the ages of 14 to 19 and who has worked to the special benefit of the club during the year to develop and promote the club and its projects
The Junior Volunteer of the Year Award will receive The Basil Heatley Memorial Trophy
6 The Senior Sports Personality category will apply to those persons ineligible on the grounds of age for the Junior Sports Personality Award.
7 The Senior Team award will apply to those teams where members are ineligible on the grounds of age for the Junior Team Award. The Team Club headquarters must be in the Borough
8 The Disability award shall apply to any disabled athletes living in the Borough involved in any recognised sport as defined by Sport England
9 The Club Volunteer of the Year award will apply to a volunteer or a team of volunteers who has/have worked to the special benefit of the club during the year to develop and promote the club and its projects.
10 The Services to Sport award will apply to persons who have contributed to the furtherance of sport within the Borough in a voluntary capacity for a minimum of 15 years.
11 For the Special Services to Sport award nominations must come from Clubs with headquarters within the Borough to recognise assistance from someone living outside the Borough. This person should have a minimum service of five years to the Club concerned.
12 The Dennis Harvey Long Service award. The winner for this award is selected by the Executive Committee of NBSF on Length of Service to the Community
13. Junior Sports Scholarship Awards for Young People 2022
There will be two levels of assistance for this scheme. Achievements Scholarships may receive a maximum grant of £150 and Development Scholarships with a maximum grant of £50. There will be up to 6 scholarships available to both level of achievements.
